London City Airport (LCY)
Airport Information

(London, England, UK)

Located on the banks of the Thames River, just to the east of London and not far from Canary Wharf, London City Airport (LCY) is the closest airport to the city centre and lies next to Canning Town, Silvertown and also the University of East London. The airport is therefore ideal for business travellers and those with less time on their hands.

There is just one terminal at London City Airport, which has commendable facilities and is easy to navigate. Flights come in from many major UK cities, as well as from European destinations including Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Jersey. Although the airport currently serves around two million passengers annually, it is predicated that this has the potential to grow to five million in the near future. The nearby ExCeL Exhibition Centre is often of interest to arriving passengers and lies on the northern side of the city's Royal Victoria Dock.

Exceptional bus and rail services connect London City Airport (LCY) with London city itself and its many boroughs, with shuttle buses running to underground stations and the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The Green Bus runs to Canning Town and back every five minutes throughout the day, while the Blue Bus heads to Canary Wharf and Liverpool Street, and bus number 69 runs to Walthamstow and North Woolwich. Traditional black London taxi cabs are also readily available.
